AUTIZ FAP e-Logbook WORKSHOP-April,2026
Report on Pre-Conference Workshop: “Hands-on Workshop on AUTIZ–FAP e-Logbook” IAPSMWBCON 2026 | 41st Annual State Conference, IAPSM West Bengal Chapter
As part of the 41st Annual State Conference of the IAPSM West Bengal Chapter, IAPSMWBCON 2026, a Pre-Conference Workshop titled “Hands-on Workshop on AUTIZ–FAP e-Logbook” was organized on 4th April 2026. The workshop was hosted by the Department of Community Medicine, Barasat Government Medical College, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The program addressed a pressing academic need in the Competency Based Medical Education curriculum: effective implementation and documentation of the Family Adoption Programme for MBBS students.
Background and Need
The Family Adoption Programme is a mandatory longitudinal activity under CBME where medical students adopt families and follow them through their course. While the concept strengthens community orientation, documentation and monitoring have remained cumbersome for both students and faculty. Recognizing this gap, the AUTIZ-FAP e-Logbook was developed as an Automated, User-friendly, Time saving, Indigenous, Zero-cost digital platform. The workshop was conceptualized to train faculty and residents in this tool, ensuring uniform and efficient FAP implementation across medical colleges in West Bengal.
Faculty and Resource Persons
The workshop was led by experts from Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, Kolar, Karnataka — Dr Samudyatha UC, Associate Professor, and Dr Sunil BN, Professor & Head, Department of Community Medicine, who are part of the core AUTIZ team. They were supported by eminent resource persons from West Bengal: Prof Dr Mausumi Basu, HOD Community Medicine, IIMSAR & BCRHH; Dr Surajit Lahiri, Associate Professor, IPGMER & SSKM; and Dr SK Golam Mortuja, HOD Community Medicine, Jalpaiguri Government Medical College & Hospital. Their combined experience ensured both technical depth and contextual relevance for participants.
Proceedings and Content
The session began with an overview of challenges in FAP implementation, highlighting paperwork burden, poor tracking, and lack of real-time monitoring. The core team then introduced the AUTIZ-FAP e-Logbook, demonstrating its dashboard, student entry modules, family visit logs, faculty verification system, and automated report generation. Participants received hands-on training using their own devices, with live data entry simulations. Key features emphasized were: seamless student documentation, longitudinal family tracking, instant faculty monitoring, and generation of CBME-compliant reports for university submission.
The second half focused on practical aspects of rollout — departmental organization, coordination between faculty and students, team building, and troubleshooting. The AUTIZ Core team assured continuous online support for all participating colleges, addressing a major concern about sustainability.
Objectives Achieved
The workshop successfully delivered on its three objectives:
• Hands-on training in the effective use of AUTIZ FAP e-Logbook for all attendees.
• Access to a complete, ready-to-use digital platform at zero cost, removing financial
barriers to adoption.
• Practical insights into structuring FAP at the institutional level, including role
delegation and monitoring mechanisms.
Participation
The workshop drew active participation from Faculty, Senior Residents, and Post Graduates in Community Medicine from medical colleges across the state and outside. Among the registered delegates, HODs from eight medical colleges took part in the workshop and made this workshop a lively one. Senior Professors from several medical colleges participated in the discussion and their enthusiasm inspired the juniors.
Organizing Team
The event was conducted under the guidance of Prof Dr Kunal K Majumdar, President, IAPSM WB Chapter, and Prof Dr Mausumi Basu, Hony Secretary. Prof Dr Ramaprasad Roy and Dr Sankar N Jha led the IAPSMWBCON 2026 organizing team, while Dr Sanghamitra Maulik and Dr Anirban Dalui coordinated the pre-conference workshop as Chairperson and Organizing Secretary respectively.
Conclusion and Impact
The AUTIZ-FAP e-Logbook workshop was highly engaging and solution-oriented. By equipping faculty with a standardized, zero-cost digital tool, it directly addresses NMC’s CBME requirements while reducing administrative load. Participants appreciated the user-friendly interface and the promise of ongoing support from the AUTIZ team.
The workshop is expected to catalyze statewide adoption of the e-Logbook, improving the quality of Family Adoption Programme documentation and monitoring. Such initiatives at IAPSMWBCON 2026 reflect the commitment of the Community Medicine fraternity in West Bengal towards innovation in medical education. The organizers were thanked for their foresight in hosting this timely and impactful workshop.
